FAQ

Can I start my own Art Cheerleaders chapter?
Yes. Start by reading the archive, reviewing the charter, and submitting a chapter proposal. You may also create a project “inspired by” the Art Cheerleaders without becoming an official chapter.

Can I perform historical cheers?
Possibly. Please request permission, especially for public performances, publications, recordings, exhibitions, or online videos. We want the cheers to live, but we also want them credited and contextualized.

Can I write new cheers?
Yes. New cheers are encouraged. They should engage art, artists, institutions, art education, cultural labor, or arts advocacy, and should follow the project’s guardrails.

Can I use “Make Art!”?
“Make Art!” is part of the Art Cheerleaders’ core language and archive. The phrase is short and widely used, but when you are using it in connection with this lineage, please credit The Art Cheerleaders and link to the archive.

Can I use photos from the archive?
Please ask first. Many archive images have specific photographers, rights holders, or publisher credits. Some are available only for viewing and historical reference.

Can I use press clippings?
Press clippings are included for documentary context. Copyright may remain with the original publisher, writer, photographer, or publication. Use the live article link when available.

Can my project be listed in the archive?
Submit documentation. The stewards will review whether the project should be listed as an official chapter, affiliated project, inspired-by project, contextual reference, or research item.

Who decides what is official?
The Art Cheerleaders archive stewards review submissions for historical accuracy, attribution, alignment with the charter, documentation quality, and rights status.
